God bless the dead

today marks the 10 year anniversary of the death of tupac shakur.

ever since last night, i've been thinking about what to write in this post. BLANK. NOTHING.
... or maybe too much.

i could write an essay on tupac (actually, i have). but i don't want to bore all of you with all of that because i'd go on and on.

all i will say is that he was a very talented and passionate individual, and it's unfortunate that he was killed when he was because he had much more creativity to unleash on the world. to say the VERY least, the hip hop community misses his presence, and his death (along with the death of the notorious big) marked the end of an era in hip hop.

... but life goes on ...

and if anyone would like to pour out a little liquor with me in his memory tonight in sd, let me know ... or if you're in sf, i'm sure my brother would be more than happy to have you join his celebration of the life and death of tupac.

**UPDATE**
for a better post on tupac, see my brother's blog.

and if you're in Lancaster, CA tonight, we'll be pouring water (might get crazy and use apple juice!) for the legend who's gone but never forgotten.

is the legendary first and only paper that you went over on and actually turned in early?

nah, it wasn't that "legendary" paper. i wrote the essay on tupac for my junior year hs ethics class. we had to write something on ethics based on a song. i chose pac's brenda's got a baby, and i think the only reason i chose it was because i knew my hs ethics teacher was one of those people who thought nothing good could come from someone like tupac. i did it to prove her wrong.

i actually wrote a different paper on tupac for my junior year hs english class, which was basically a narrative of the time tupac got shot the first time. that one wasn't as good because i wasn't able to use language and terms that tupac would have used, making the narrative not very believable.

the "legendary" paper was a decal (student taught class) on the history of hip hop my freshman year at cal. that paper was on the dj or the reemergence of the dj. through 6 or 7 semesters at cal, it was the ONLY paper i started before midnight the day it was due. every other paper i wrote, i started in the wee hours of the morning before it was due, and majoring in philosophy, there are a lot of papers you have to write. talk about procrasination, but hey, it turned out well, right?

i have the dj paper on my computer. i believe i have the narrative somewhere, but i don't know if i have the brenda's got a baby paper still.
